Worker Dies after Health and Safety at Work Incident

The HSE will have their hands full looking into a worker death.  The worker was 31 years old when he was trapped by a digger and a road roller on Wednesday. Emergency services were called, but attempts to save the young many were ineffective.  The injuries sustained due to the crushing incident were too much for the young man to survive.

The incident will have health and safety audits conducted based on the laws in place.  Many factors will be assessed during the audits such as whether there were proper workstation risk assessments, management plan for risks, and training.  The HSE will determine what led to the unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of a worker.  At the moment, there are no suspicious circumstances with his death.  This is also something that must be investigated whenever a sudden death at a workplace occurs.

All that is known for the moment is that the worker suffered injuries because of two large machines between which he was trapped.  It is a sorrowful tale for his family and it is hoped the HSE investigation will be over quickly, so that answers can be given about what events led to the accident.

Even after the scene is examined, there will be paperwork and investigations into the companies that used the equipment to determine if there is any fault and whether prosecution needs to happen.  Until a determination is made, the HSE will not offer any details into what they find.
