UK Examining Health and Safety of Border Check Suspensions

It may be news to a few readers that UK border checks done on a regular basis were suspended, but for those who have been following the recent information that has become known you might not be surprised.  There is more information regarding the issue of border checks and why staff stopped them on various occasions.  Border checks are an issue of health and safety for the entire country, not just health and safety at work.

Since 2007, there have been regular suspensions of border checks.  Home Secretary Theresa May spoke on the subject stating that the border checks for last year alone were excessively relaxed.  It was found that the staff members may have had some permission to be more lax, but it is because of these members that the schemes approved were abused.

Brodie Clark worked at the border offices for 40 years, but has quit because of issues with border security.  He is just one of the individuals who will resign or has already resigned because of the safety and health situations in which they have put the UK.

May stated that the border force needs to undergo significant changes in order to become an entirely new system.  She has stated that Brian Moore, Wiltshire Police Chief, will take over as the head of the department to ensure that lax protocols end.  It has also been found that millions of pounds spent for better security technology went unused and briefings held were inaccurate.
