Talks Surrounding Health and Safety Continue with Tanker Drivers

There is a potential strike for tanker drivers, but the government and unions are doing their best to make sure it does not happen.  The talks are all about maintaining the health and safety needed for these drivers.  The changes being proposed could potentially affect the health and safety at work these drivers need.  The dispute has been ongoing for a year now, but has become more heated since last month.  There were definitely panics at fuel pumps across the country concerning petrol stations not getting their fuel delivery.

Some of the hysteria has died down since the union members stated they would not strike during the Easter holiday, but that has done little to help solve the actual problem.  Those who are participating in the talks are discussing a better way to maintain the safety and health in their jobs.  The union has also stated that they will provide notice of seven days before they strike if the new talks will not solve the problem.

For those in the UK driving tankers with fuel, safety has to be a priority.  Driving longer periods of time with more fuel on board or without proper breaks can lead to a serious accident.  This is one of the reasons they are trying to get the problem solved before a serious accident happens.  Parties are trying to be constructive in finding a proper solution, but it may take a bit longer before a true solution is offered.
