Nursery School Shuts Down amid Health and Safety Concerns

Last week, Mrs Bland’s Nursery and Infant School was closed due to a pipe bursting.  The pipe burst during lunchtime on Friday.  Water moved through the halls and kitchen.  Early Monday morning staff members arrived at the school to find the freezing weather conditions over the weekend and that morning had left the school a health and safety risk.

The school will be closed for a few more days as work is completed on the pipes.  There will also be engineers going through the school to do work station risk assessments.  Engineers are already ruling that the school will be safe once the water is taken care of and the heating is back on.  The cause of the issue remains unknown.  It could be the heating went out and it caused the pipes to freeze and then burst.  This could mean the school may need to make an investment with a new heating system rather than repair.

Once the cause has been investigated fully, there may be some changes to the school.  Those in charge of the school feel they will be open again on Tuesday and do not foresee any further issues.  The safety and health of children is of primary importance.  This is why a full investigation into the problem will be conducted and engineers have been brought in to alleviate any concerns.  Chances are it is nothing but winter weather conditions that have suddenly created issues for the school rather than anything serious.
