Improvements with Health and Safety at Work

An insurance company has recently reviewed their policies based on improved health and safety at work.  Health and safety at work is an important feature of any company. Employers are bound by law to provide certain measures of safety for their employees.  When companies fail to do so or an accident happens the HSE is often brought in to investigate what occurred and whether the issues could have been avoided.

The insurance company has conducted their own reviews of certain industries.  They examined 95% of their policyholders and found that their insurance protection needs to be modified.  Certain occupations were considered high risk and resulted in an increase of insurance premiums.  After a review of health and safety, the company determined that some of these occupations could be reduced from high risk.  This also makes the insurance more affordable.  Some occupations that are considered lower risk include journalists, vets, chartered surveyors, and scientific professionals.  Roofers, scaffolders, and tile workers are also able to get insurance now because of the health and safety review by at least one UK based insurance company.

This is all good news for the workers and the companies of these workers.  There is nothing worse than having issues with insurance should something occur.  The fact that health and safety is better in certain circumstances is also something to be applauded.  The fact is that in certain instances accidents and incidents at work have been reduced in frequency because companies are paying more attention.
