IFSEC Supporting Lone Workers Better Health and Safety

IFSEC International is working to support lone workers in the UK.  There are roughly eight million lone workers in the UK and they are the most at risk for health and safety at work issues.  Lone workers often have to enter homes without direct supervision.  This means they could find dangers such as a home in disrepair, dangerous homeowners, or crime.  These workers are definitely susceptible to safety and health issues.

It also means the companies they work for need to conduct proper workstation risk assessments.  In the case of lone workers, their vehicles are one of the workstations they have.  It is impossible to inspect every home or workplace the worker may go, but the point is there should be risk management policies in place.

Lone workers need to have SOS buttons and lone worker tracking devices.  These devices can assure that proper help is sent if an incident occurs.  It is about the only way for lone workers to be protected.  The company IFSEC is working on products and solutions for lone workers to make safety and health a priority for them.

These lone workers need to have a standard of safety and health.  This may mean better training, risk management, and assessments of what could happen.  There is training for the company and its workers for protecting the staff.  CCTV on the vehicles, access control, and intruder alarms are also part of the safety measures that can be in place for lone workers.
