Health and safety necessary for those who want to be gas fitters

An individual posed as a gas fitter despite only being a plumber. He has now been prosecuted for the health and safety dangers he put others in. He installed a boiler in a home, but did not conduct the work correctly. It meant putting the business employees at risk while they lived at home. There were two separate occasions wherein he worked on gas appliances at businesses. He used legitimate names of installers, but was neither individual. He certainly misled customers and put them in danger.

Health and safety regulations require that any gas fitter have proper training. This training needs to include the certification showing a completed course in gas fitting and education in the industry. A plumber has their own knowledge. This does not include that of the gas industry. The individual did plead guilty to the charges for a lesser sentence, but it is unclear if he actually learned anything from this court sentencing. He was fined for six breaches. The total was 12,000 pounds. He also had to pay over 2,500 pounds in additional court costs.

An incident could have occurred due to his actions. The man is lucky that no one died or suffered injuries. It is also a lesson to others to have proper training and the right certificate before they conduct any gas fitting work. For consumers, it is important that you check the registration of any gas worker in your home or business.
