Farming meeting to take place includes health and safety

Bell Ingram is sponsoring a farming meeting.  It is going to be an annual meeting in Scotland as a way to promote better farming practises.  Rural land management issues will also be discussed at the meeting in an attempt to help support the rural economy.  While the meetings are focusing a lot on the economy and current issues with making money in farming due to the recession issues, the talks are also about health and safety.

Farming and agriculture are two industries that have many health and safety at work incidents in a year.  It is very easy for death, loss of limb, or other major incidents to take place on a farm.  The machinery used, sharp tools, and practises farms use for storage all contributes to issues of safety and health at the workplace.

Given the issues of safety and health, it makes sense that there will be an annual meeting to tackle the high rate of incidents that occur on farms.  The hope is that along with talks about economic improvements for rural farming, the safety and health practises can be improved by talking about better procedures.

Farmers can learn from others to get better training to ensure that farmers are taking better duty of care towards safety and health.  Every country, including the whole of the UK, needs to focus on how to improve farming in terms of safety and health concerns that exist so that incidents such as paralysation or loss of limb do not happen.
