Consultation revealed for reduction of health and Safety

The first results from Government consultations revealed.

The Government began the first health and safety consultation that is in response to lowering legislation in the next two years.  The document shows seven statutory changes may be implemented by 2014.  As of yet the information has not based through all steps to make the modifications, but it seems these seven concepts may be accepted.  It will at least make some changes for up to date health and safety at work.

Much of the regulations in place right now are from 1971 or 1974 with very few updates in between.  For instance the Anthrax Prevention Order 1971 was changed in 2005, but it has been seven years already for this act.  The Health and Safety Foundries Regulations were changed in 1981.  This is more than 30 years now. The employment medical act, non ferrous metals, pottery regulations and others have been examined to see if there is a way to update them or deem some of the regulations as unnecessary in today’s world.

The Government is talking about going further with the regulations in place when it comes to Health and Safety.  There are those in the Government who intend on reducing legislation by 50 per cent in the next two years.  It will take a lot of work to see this happen, but many are positive that changes will be made.  Everyone is now waiting to see if the changes will be for the better or not.
