Bradford Care Homes Breach Health and Safety

The HSE has found two Bradford care facilities to be in breach of safety and health laws.  The first facility is Hazel Bank Care Home.  This is located near Daisy Hill.  It is owned by Park Care Homes.  They are in breach of the laws for quality and safety.  It was determined the facility was in breach after health and safety audits were conducted.

The second location was European Care Lifestyles.  They also failed to protect the individuals living at Oakhurst Nursing Home.  Issues account for up to four areas where health and safety were not properly cared for in both locations.  Some of the issues include not respecting the people using the services, the care and welfare of those that do, staffing levels, and safeguarding from abuse.

Oakhurst was a target of a second audit after the December 2011 investigation.  At the time the nursing home was given time to change their issues and a warning.  They failed to comply with this.  Inspectors found there were several areas wherein staff members failed to protect the services they offer.

There are huge risks that need to be guarded against in the operation of these facilities.  The investigators are worried that if left to proceed as they have been, the care facilities will cause undue harm.  The HSE has issued warnings and will continue to crack down on these facilities.  If necessary fines will be sought to ensure the owners of the facilities change their standards and procedures.
