Screening Company Failed Health and Safety Inspection

A health screening company has been prosecuted.  The firm is located in Cornwall and was brought up on charges of using unqualified staff during health screenings of workers at various organisations.  Audio Medical conducted tests for 59 companies over the last four years; however, they did not have proper staff members conducting the screenings.  This is a huge violation of health and safety at work.  They also failed to provide employers with worker information that would keep the employees from encountering health issues.

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome is one case that the company failed to address.  The syndrome occurs in individuals who use hand-held tools with power or materials that are processed by machinery.  Issues with such a syndrome include numbness, pain, and tingling.  Even one’s sense of touch can be affected.  Finger blanching is one characteristic of the issue.  The condition is preventable, but not curable once it occurs.

The courts heard the case about the health and safety issues.  Those participating in the case listened to experts offering evidence about the condition and the positive impact on prevention of proper screening.  After many investigations into the health company, it was found that they also missed many other situations that could have been prevented.  If the company had proper staff members on hand with proper screening methods, the situation could have been reduced, with workers continuing in their normal duties rather than at risk of further injury while they are on the job.
