Legionnaires’ Disease Guide Released by Health and Safety Executive

Any hospital, hotel, or public location really needs to understand what Legionnaires is and what causes it.  There have been a few deaths from Legionnaires because of improper health and safety training The fact is that the disease can happen through a water supply.  Even a landlord should understand the disease to avoid any health problem.  To help one understand legionella there is a guide being released by the HSE.  It goes over some of the more important points that health and safety training courses also cover.

Legionnaire’s disease can occur due to bacteria in the water or around water.  It acts similar to pneumonia with added symptoms and even a rash in some cases.  It can also lead to Pntiac or Lochgoilhead fever.  In any of the cases, it can most often lead to death with improper care.  If the disease is not recognised right away, death can happen.  Furthermore, others can contract it if the bacterium is not cleaned properly.  A person that stays in a hotel room after someone with Legionnaires has occupied it could be contaminated.  This shows you how important it can be to a landlord to understand this disease.  The guide being released is intended to discuss the more dangerous side of the disease and what one can do to make certain it is not a problem in the public sector.  The guide comes on the heels of deaths in Spain months ago due to the disease where one patient died and another in the hotel was sent to the hospital.
