Helicopter close to power lines
A startling news reel showed a helicopter flying extremely close to live power lines. According to some conjecture about the incident a repairman needed to fix something on a power line so they used a helicopter over other means. Whether this story is true or not seems a bit hard to determine considering the video that exists. One might think it is fake considering the dangers of a helicopter flying anywhere near power lines. One small mistake could wipe out the power grid for that block or further. It could also kill those in the helicopter.
Apparently the video is from an incident involving PSE&G wherein two employees tried to fix power lines from the helicopter. In terms of health and safety it is hard to believe there were any thoughts to it. Experts might wish to step in if this was real in order to remind those working in the helicopter of the true health and safety regulations with regards to working and remaining safe.
One could only hope that the incident is not real, but then again it seems all too real as you watch the helicopter video that is going viral online. The power line that was being worked on has 230,000 volts of electricity running through it. With a helicopter flying just inches from the line it seems similar to a scene out of a movie than the true thing. It may be the last of this type of incident based on the publicity it has got.
