Health and safety training courses need to stop outbreaks

Plenty of diseases can suddenly cause an outbreak.  Now we have ways to counteract the issues due to advanced medicine, but there are still some individuals at more risk from disease such as Legionnaires’, which ran through Edinburgh last month.  There is now talk of safety concerns with firms that deal with water in that they may not be able to comply immediately with the codes that may be approved.  Actually, the Scottish government is looking at more companies to make them comply with the changes the water facilities affected with Legionella had to make.  A broader change will mean fewer problems in the future.  The HSE will conduct many health and safety audits over the next few months to make certain the problem with such an outbreak is solved with more than just the affected facilities.

It might be in the companies’ best interests to make changes before they are audited and have their staff undergo health and safety training courses as pertains to the issues of Legionnaires’ disease and other outbreaks that could happen.  Mad cow, bird flu, and many other diseases exist and can create issues for a large population.  Prevention is a huge part of health at work and for the public.  It would be best for most places that could be a target of bacteria and other serious diseases to have the training available for their employees for safety of all.
