Blaze at popstar’s luxury penthouse block

Popstar Duffy had to flee after a fire broke out and tore through what’s believed to be her luxury Kensington rented apartment.

Around 60 firefighters battled the blaze at St Mary Abbots Terrace near Kensington High Street. The flat affected was on the ninth and tenth floors of the block, and part of the building’s roof was also involved in the blaze.

The Smoke Without Fire singer looked stunned as she was led away from the apartment block. The 6,000 sq ft apartment reportedly has its own pool and cinema.

A Station Manager commented “Thanks to the quick actions by our crews when they arrived we were able to contain the fire to the ninth floor penthouse flat and the roof of the building. Around 20 people were evacuated from the block but thankfully there were no injuries.

“Because of the complicated layout of the structure crews are working in, firefighters are likely to remain at the scene for some time today, as they continue to damp down and extinguish any small pockets of fire which still remain.”

Crews was called shortly after 7.00pm and the fire was under control by shortly before midnight. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
